A. The constitution of the Colonial Medical Staff was fully considered by the Committee appointed by His Excellency Sir W. Robinson to enquire into the Medical Department and in their report dated April 1895 and signed by
Thos. A. Knott, Deputy Inspector General R.N.
A. F. Preston, Surgeon Colonel, A.M.S.
A. McConachie.
Thurburn.
Cantlie, M.A., M.B., F.R.C.S., &c.
the appointment of a Medical Officer of Health was recommended. They stated that if this was done the existing staff would be sufficient to meet the ordinary requirements of the Colony.
The Medical Officer of Health for the Colony was appointed on my recommendations in 1895, see C.O. No.1246/95.
One Medical Officer of Health is in my opinion and in that of the Committee quite sufficient for the ordinary requirements of the Colony.
